Chelsea left-back could return to Italy amidst interest from Juventus.

Ben Chilwell has been a fantastic addition to the already impressive Chelsea squad. However, one person is not happy with the transfer and that is Emerson Palmieri. The Brazilian left-back has been effectively turned into a third choice player for the Blues as after paying around 50 million pounds for Chilwell, he will most likely become the starting left-back.

Emerson joined the Blues in January 2018 from AS Roma and has always played second fiddle to Spanish wing-back, Marcos Alonso. The Brazilian, however, got many outings in the Chelsea shirt due to Alonso’s irregular performances which often dropped him to the bench but with the arrival of Chilwell, his chances of getting on the pitch are very slim.

Juventus has now arrived as his savior as they have taken interest in the player. The Turin side are looking for a replacement for Mattia De Sciglio who will be playing for the French side, Olympique Lyon, for the rest of the season on loan. The Italian giants have thus identified Emerson as a potential replacement as he already has prior knowledge of the Italian league.

The 26-year-old is not a bad player by any means but he is more of a traditional left-back and if he tries to play in an advanced position he fails to backtrack with the attackers. He has excellent defensive abilities and a lot of experience of playing in the top leagues. He also won the UEFA Europa League with Chelsea. Emerson would be a fantastic buy for Juventus as he is still at the peak of his career and can easily provide five to six more years.

Juve have already been doing some fantastic transfer deals with the brilliant swap deal for Arthur Melo and the direct transfer of Alvaro Morata. Federico Chiesa has also signed a two-year loan deal with the club and the addition of Emerson would mean that Andrea Pirlo will have a team ready to challenge for the UEFA Champions League and also pick up their 10th consecutive league title.
