Manchester United player and former Champions League winner could swap clubs as huge money offer comes in from Saudia Arabian team.
Ex-Chelsea player and UEFA Champions League winner, Juan Mata, now has a huge decision to make. The 32-year-old is reaching towards the end of his professional career and must decide whether he wants to stay on at Manchester United or move to a club that is willing to pay him an insane amount of money.
According to reports, Mata has received an offer from an undisclosed Saudi Arabian club which we see the midfielder make close to 15 million dollars per year. Football consultant, Ian Gary, reported on a podcast,Transfer Window Podcast,
It’s our knowledge that Mata has an offer worth around $15million net per year to go and play in the Saudi Arabian league. It’s not at this moment in time that Manchester United have entered negotiations, we can’t disclose the name of the club at this moment in time. But we are certain that the offer is there, his father, who is his agent, is confident that Manchester United would release Mata on freedom of contract after he had his contract extended by the optional year in his current deal over the summer.”
The Spaniard would probably have to contemplate a lot before making any decisions, however, the deal might be too sweet to miss out upon. Mata did extend his stay with the Red Devils in 2019 but his playtime under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has drastically decreased. The 2012 Champions League winner is still valued at the club according to his manager and after the win against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, Solskjaer praised him a lot in the post-match interview,
He is a very valuable member of the squad and a top professional. It is never easy to tell him when he’s not playing. He has had a fantastic career, he has won whatever there is to win more or less. He is an example for everyone to look at, how you conduct yourself and how you perform when you get the chance.”
Still, there is no denying that age is catching up to the star and he might want to find his way out of a competitive league and relax for the rest of his professional career. However, Mata might not opt to go to the middle east should he want a bit more time in the competitive area. He could, like many others, go to the MLS should he get an offer from one of the American clubs but if he wants to secure a lucrative deal then, a deal is already in front of him.
