Cristiano Ronaldo hits back at the Italian press and the sports minister for spreading rumors about him not following proper protocols.

Cristiano Ronaldo was tested positive for covid-19 on October 13th while he was on international duty playing in the UEFA Nations League. He has since tested negative for the virus two times, however, to leave complete isolation, he must at least clear the test three times. He returned to Turin on a medical flight, advised by competent officials. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner understandably wanted to be close to his family and thus desired the flight back to Italy.

Although Juventus insists that the superstar had taken every single precaution and followed all the protocols, Italy’s minister of sports believes that a lack of care was taken into the arrival of Ronaldo and that he might have breached the rules.  He said on an interview with Rai Radio,

Without authorisation from the health authorities, I think he has violated the protocol. Juventus believe they had that clearance and are now waiting on Ronaldo posting a negative test as quickly as possible.”

The Portuguese winger has since gone on to criticize the rumors spread by the minister and he believes that he was very careful and took all the necessary steps while returning to Italy. Ronaldo lashed out at the authorities on an Instagram live video. He said,

I did not break any protocol. They’re saying that I broke Italian laws but it’s all a lie. I spoke with my team and we have the responsibility to do things right. Everything was done with authorization. Principally for the Italian man whose name I’m not going to say, it’s a lie, I abided by all the protocols.”

He then went on to assure fans that he was isolated from his family and that they were on a different floor of his house. He also mentioned that he is still exercising and trying to be fit by eating healthy. He then goes on to give his audience a few advice on the importance of eating healthy and sleeping for at least eight hours a day. It seems like the star is free of the virus and as soon as his last result comes out negative he will be allowed to interact with people again. It will also mean that he will most likely not miss out on the match against Barcelona. This will be a huge relief for all football fans.
