Manchester United clinch a stunning late victory as Rashford steals the headlines again on a memorable return to Paris.

Manchester United enjoyed a happy return to the Parc De Princes as Marcus Rashford was yet again the hero of the night with a brilliant late strike to seal the tie and the points against PSG in the Champions League Group H on Thursday.

Ole’s men took the lead midway through the first half through Captain Bruno Fernandes’ retaken hop, skip and jump Jorginho-esque penalty after PSG keeper Keylor Navas had illegally stepped off his line to save the first attempt.

The French Giants, however, were given a route back into the game as United forward Anthony Martial headed into his own goal early in the 2nd half to draw the game level at 1-1. But a brilliant low drive from Rashford three minutes from time ensured that Manchester United secured victory and took home all three points on the night.

United’s new-look defense along with Tuanzebe and Alex Telles looked solid and held up well against a star-studded PSG attack which included the likes of Neymar, Mbappe, and Di Maria. Aaron Wan-Bissaka seemed comfortable and at his elastic best making great tackles throughout the game on his CL debut and goalkeeper David De Gea repaid the faith his manager had in him with a much-deserved man of the match performance. The Spaniard showed great reflexes to keep out Di Maria early in the game, before making an instinctive save against a stretching Layvin Kurzawa and then brilliantly denying Mbappe later.

Meanwhile, left-back Alex Telles looked like the real deal and it is understandable why United spent the cash for the Ex- Porto man as he whipped in some beautiful crosses into the box from that left side and made some good runs down the channels. Youngster Tuanzebe also impressed in the absence of Harry Maguire and could well make his way into the first team really soon.

Tuchel’s men showed some promise early in the game pushing United back and applying pressure, but failed to establish any real dominance in the game. Midfielder Angel Di Maria had a shot saved by De Gea in the 12th minute and Kurzawa rattled the crossbar for the French side, but good chances to score were few and far between.

The PSG midfield trio of Ander Herrera, Gueye, and Danilo Pereira were largely ineffective as McTominay, Fred and then Pogba ran the show in midfield and grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck. Neymar seemed out of it and failed to make any real impact as he had only the two touches in the opposition box and did not hit the target till the 83rd minute. Young 20-year old Moise Kean also failed to make an impression after being subbed on at the beginning of the second half, leaving the PSG boss frustrated with his side’s lack of creativity and cutting edge in the final third.

The result means Manchester United top Group H alongside RB Leipzig on 3 points. The next round of Champions League fixtures will be played in the last week of October with United VS Leipzig and PSG facing Istanbul Basaksehir.
