Manchester City have found multiple targets as Pep Guardiola’s replacement.
Manchester City have reportedly kept a few options at hand in case Josep Pep Guardiola leaves the club next season. The Spaniard has now been at the club for five years which is his longest run as a manager. He did not even spend so much time at Barcelona nor Bayern Munich.
Guardiola’s contract is up at the end of this season and the Manchester City group are working a new deal for the Catalan. However, if they do fail to keep the Spaniard at the Etihad stadium, they do have a couple of options as their target. Recent reports suggest that the people at City have kept Julian Nagelsman, the RB Leipzig boss as a target. The RB Leipzig boss is very young and has huge potential from what he has put up at the German club. Attractive possession-based football has always been a thing for The Citizens and the German would be the perfect fit.
The Premier League giants have also eyed Leicester City manager and former Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, as a potential replacement while former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is also a candidate.
Guardiola himself has stated multiple times that if the people at the club want him to stay he will give down everything and stay at the club. However, despite spending so much money during the transfer window, the Catalan failed to deliver a Champions League trophy at the City of Manchester Stadium, which was one of the major demands. However, he took England by storm as he landed 198 points in two seasons shattering multiple records. Since the 2018/19 season, however, the Manchester side have not been the same and they failed to deliver a major trophy so far.
This season has not been an ideal start for Pep’s squad as they have 8 points from 5 games which is City’s worst record since 2014/15. This is potentially Pep’s last season at Manchester and it looks like he might just depart but the fans of the club have made him feel at home given the fact that he’s had nothing but good things to say about the people at the club and at Manchester.
