Barcelona and Manchester United will engage in a transfer race for the midfielder, Ryan Gravenberch.
Ryan Gravenberch is currently a star midfielder in Ajax, leading to pursuit from major European football teams. The 18-year-old has already made a name for himself, with Barcelona watching him closely.
Similarly, Juventus have also shown interest in acquiring the player and now reports are emerging of major Premier League clubs also joining the battle. Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the situation, while Liverpool’s interest piqued after the youngster played against them in last week’s Champions League clash.
The Dutch youth has made 19 appearances for Ajax so far and shown tremendous promise with 4 goals and 3 assists to his name. He’s already being touted to be a sensation, with his playstyle being compared to legendary star Paul Pogba.
He has emerged from the illustrious youth academy of Ajax that has been known to produce brilliant talents. Barcelona have previously acquired Frenkie de Jong, also from Ajax Hellas, who has proven to be an indispensable asset on the field. Gravenberch would be a much-needed addition to the squad for the Catalans.
In June, Gravenberch signed a 3-year long contract with the Dutch giants, and an exit so soon seems unlikely. The Eredivisie champions would obviously like to retain this talent to remain within their ranks.
However, with many of the football clubs hit financially due to the pandemic, their desire to hold on to Gravenberch may not happen. They have previously lost talents like de Jong and recently, Sergino Dest due to financial problems and could very well lose this talented midfielder too.
Current Barcelona boss, Ronald Koeman, is also keen on bringing the youngster over to join Dest and de Jong in the midfield. The U19 talent is valued at about 20 million euros and could be a good fit at Camp Nou, if Barcelona are able to win the race against the likes of Manchester United and Juventus.
