Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on securing star Serie A defender.
Chelsea and Manchester United should be delighted with their teams’ performances in the UEFA Champions League. The London clubs won 4-0 against Krasnodar FC and the Manchester club registered their first win at home this season with a thumping 5-0 win against RB Leipzig. However, both clubs have struggled defensively this season. United has conceded 12 goals in Premier League while Chelsea has conceded 9 in the league.
According to reports by 90min both Chelsea and United have joined the race to sign Cagliari’s young defender Sebastian Walukiewicz. The 20-year-old had 21 appearances last season and has been quite promising. Frank Lampard is yet to find his best center back pair. The Blues have often struggled against teams due to goalkeeping errors and defensive problems like when they dropped points against Southampton despite scoring 3 goals due to individual error of Kepa and Zouma. Lampard will be hoping to challenge for trophies in the future and for that, he needs to sort his back four or five.
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has been impressive in the Champions League this season. However, the team is struggling in the league. The Red Devils are looking to sell Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo next season and it is quite evident that the team will be needing a fourth choice center back. The two Premier League clubs are not the only ones tracking Sebastian and may face tough competitions from Lazio and Atletico Madrid for the signature of the young Polish international.
The 20-year-old was praised by his teammate Diego Godin and the young defender is leaving his mark in Italy. Atleti might need a replacement for Jose Gimenez next season if the player leaves the club. Both Lampard and Ole will be monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation and a bid may be incoming in the future for the player.
