Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are monitoring former Chelsea defender.

A number of big clubs are looking at ex-Chelsea player Tariq Lamptey. The defender was sold to Brighton in January for a minuscule fee of 3 million pounds and it seems like an absolute steal now. The 20-year-old has taken full advantage of his regular starts and transformed into a solid right-back who is now a fan favorite at his new club. His brilliant performances have also garnered the attention of clubs like Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

Tariq Lamptey chose to move the Brighton club from a much bigger club in hope of more game time. The 20-year-old was in the Chelsea family for over a decade and would have eventually broken into the first team. He played 3 games for the senior team in Chelsea but he ultimately decided to move away from the London side as he believed that he could not waste any more time and that he must immediately get into playing first-team football.

Since his move to Brighton, he has already made fourteen starts and this season he has been very impressive. He showed his immense potential in his match against his former side and even though Brighton ended up losing 3-1, the team looked very much in control and the scoreline did not do the game justice. Lamptey was one of the reasons for their dominant display, the right back continuously troubled the  Chelsea defence while doing his defensive duties as well. The 20 year old sent in a number of crosses and was quick with the ball which gave him the edge over Marcos Alonso.

He recently showed his attacking potential in the game against Tottenham Hotspurs where he scored his first Premier League goal. He is one of the advanced wing backs who can attack as well as defend and his stats shows us exactly that. 3 assists and 1 goal in 7 games and has the second-highest crossing accuracy (46.15 per cent) and the third highest number of defensive duels won (4.6 per game)..

Atletico and Bayern have recognized his talent and are keeping close tabs on him although Brighton are also trying to offer him an improved contract. He is currently on a three year deal with the English side but should one of the big clubs of Europe offer him a contract, things could easily change. However, having said that it is also possible that he would want to stay on in Brighton as that would mean he would have more regular game time.

The only way you are going to improve is to play matches. I am an ambitious boy, who is always looking for an opportunity to play and make things happen. I am at a very good club in Brighton and I am just really happy that I am beginning to play games.” he said in an interview.

This shows us that the English player cannot be tempted away with money and big promises as the player wants regular game time and wants to improve by playing football week in and week out. Brighton have uncovered a real gem and they should try their best to hold on to him.
