Barcelona keen on bringing in Manchester City’s Eric Garcia with new offer.

Last season, there was a lot of speculation around the Manchester City star, with rumors surfacing about a possible move to Barcelona. Eric Garcia has been on their radar for quite a while and they hope to seal the deal soon.

Garcia is a graduate of Barca’s famed youth academy, La Masia, and has shown tremendous promise. Touted to be one of the most talented players produced by La Masia, the Catalans realize their mistake in letting him walk away to City at 17 years of age.

The youngster wanted to play under his hero, Pep Guardiola, and has succeeded immensely. He was an integral part of the English side’s youth team and was promoted to the senior team in the last season, making regular appearances.

The Spanish giants hope to convince the 19-year-old especially since they foresee him as the long term replacement to aging Gerard Pique. After failing to reach terms in the summer, the Blaugranas are hoping to renegotiate with City after their new President signs off.

After the resignation of President Josep Maria Bartomeu, the entire Board also stepped down, and the managing committee that is now running the club doesn’t have the authority to sign new players. The elections must be held in 90 days of resignation, meaning that the Club can hope to see a new President in January.

Barca previously made an offer on 9 million pounds upfront with 7.2 in add-ons but the Sky Blues want an eighteen million package. However, they remain hopeful with young Spaniard’s contract expiring in the coming year, City obviously wouldn’t want to lose him for free, and will perhaps agree to the offer. Garcia can also be lured with a move back home and if the player is willing to leave, Guardiola’s side will have to concede.
