Neymar has been linked to a Barcelona move but those doors are closed now.
Last season, when Lionel Messi was set to bid adieu to Barcelona, other than bringing in former teammate Xavi as the manager, his condition was to bring in Neymar in hopes to rekindle the team.
Neymar also seemed open to the idea and had pushed off any negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain. However, with the pandemic, the Catalans have been short for money and cannot afford the Brazilian’s transfer fees and the move will perhaps never happen.
The forward has now put rest all those rumors now as he has possibly agreed to a contract renewal, that will see him remain at Parc des Princes now.
After seeing Barcelona lose Luis Suarez and Messi struggling this season, one cannot blame the 28-year old for wanting to remain at PSG. He also dreams of lifting the elite Champions League trophy that he came so close to last season.
This season the Blaugranas have struggled to score any points at all in the La Liga and even lost to rivals, Real Madrid, in the El Clasico. They may have won all the Champions League fixtures so far, but their form was far from promising, with Coach Ronald Koeman seen disappointed on the sidelines on quite a few occasions.
With the entire team entirely too reliant on the Argentine captain and Antoine Griezmann failing to impress, Neymar’s reluctance to move to Camp Nou is justified. The only promising players on the field seem to be the youngsters, with the likes of Ansu Fati and Pedri.
Apparently, Neymar has already expressed his desire to remain at PSG and is willing to reach an agreement. This may be a steep price for the Parisians with a demand of 30 million euros net salary from the Brazilian national. However, with the chance of losing superstar Kylian Mbappe next year, they will be reluctant to let go of Neymar as well.
