Bayern Munich star inches closer to a free departure to an elite club.
The treble-winning defender has dismissed any contract renewal talks with Bayern Munich as he sets his mind on a move with a number of big clubs have been looking at this situation closely. Without a doubt, Alaba will be a great addition to any team in the world. The big clubs in fray for the versatile defender are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Liverpool.
With his ongoing contract expiring in 2021, Bayern wanted to renew the world-class player’s contract but his high demands couldn’t be met by the Bavarian side, and ultimately failed to make up his mind to stay. Although interested clubs knew that he won’t come cheap, especially with his reported demands of a 20 million per-annum contract, the ongoing pandemic is said to make this deal impossible for many clubs like Barcelona.
Bayern management has clearly been trying to avoid letting him go for free. He has been offered to Liverpool for a knockdown price speculated to be around 30 million euros reports footballinsider247. Real Madrid might consider signing him in the summer transfer window of 2021 as they continue to avoid incomings in January this season.
Alaba played a big part in the Bavarian side’s treble-winning run last season filling in as both left-back and as a center-back as well. But after his increasing contract demands president Herbert Hainer has revealed that all contract talks have broken down with the Austrian entourage.
The 28-year old certainly has set his sight on a move and has been in and out of Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick’s plans. According to Transfermarkt, Alaba has been valued at a high 59 million euros of market value. But he has been offered to the Merseyside club for apparently half the value. We could possibly see Alaba joining his former teammate Thiago Alcantara in the Reds dressing room, who was also transferred for way below his market value.
The versatile left-footer has been linked to Spanish giants Barcelona as well. The Catalan side have certainly been looking for a well-versed center-half this season as their squad depletion woes continue. Clubs can start pre-contract talks from the beginning of January to land Alaba for free for the next season. It seems almost certain that we will be seeing the extremely talented Austrian playing for a new club’s crest soon.
