Chelsea are looking at a Swedish defender as their new permanent center-back.

Chelsea is a club that is going through a serious overhaul at the moment. The new manager is a Chelsea legend and Roman Abramovich has decided to put complete faith in the young manager by allowing him to make all the transfers that he desires. They have brought in transfers close to 200 million pounds this season with the likes of Kai Havertz (90 million pounds), Timo Werner (47.5 million pounds), and Hakim Ziyech (33.6 million pounds) just to name a few.

Where the club did not invest much is their defense and if one consults last season’s performances, it is a surprise that Frank Lampard chose to strengthen his attack over his defense. They have had problems with Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger throughout last season as they were just not consistent enough. Andreas Christensen seems promising however, the Danish center-back is also prone to errors. The Blues managed to bring in veteran, Thiago Silva, and the backline has solidified a bit under his leadership however, the Brazilian is already 36 years old and they need to bring in a younger replacement.

According to the Swedish journal, Expressen, the London side has found their man. Young Swedish defender, Anel Ahmedhodzic, is apparently their latest target and they are willing to pay close to 8 million euros for the player. The 21-year-old made himself known to the world after the Europa League tie against Wolfsburg in February. Although they went on to lose that tie 5-1 in aggregate, he made quite an impact that match which eventually led to him being selected in the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. The player is currently playing for Malmo FF, however, he has played in England before when he used to play in Nottingham Forest’s junior teams.

Chelsea have already signed a young talent named Malang Sarr last transfer window but sent him out on loan to Porto. Should they sign another young center-back, they will have a pair of young talents whom they can deploy immediately. They should also think about getting rid of a few excess defenders as otherwise, they will have a team of talents who will be missing out on games.
