Manchester United remain keen on Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

Manchester United had a disappointing end to the transfer window when they failed to sign their long term target Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils were in need of a right-winger and they had approached many alternatives last summer including Douglas Costa and Ousmane Dembele. United wanted the Barcelona winger on loan this season but the deal did not proceed as the Catalan club was looking for a permanent transfer.

The French world cup winner moved to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. Dembele was touted as one of the best young players in the world along with Kylian Mbappe, but injuries have regressed the player’s development. Dembele has struggled with injuries at Barcelona and the French winger has lost his place in the starting eleven to Ansu Fati.

According to reports by Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United will once again try to get their summer target in the winter transfer window. It is quite evident that the English club needs a right winger. Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can form an attacking trio of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Ousmane Dembele with Mason Greenwood as the backup, while Bruno Fernandes can be deployed in the number 10 role.

It is reported by Daily Mail that Ousmane Dembele does not want to extend his current contract which expires in 2022 and the Manchester side are interested in the French forward. Solskjaer needs to bring back the rhythm after back to back defeats against Arsenal and Istanbul Baseksehir. The Red Devils play well against the teams which play a high line and struggles against deep blocks. Dembele’s addition in the side will add more pace to the side and Ole can play his fluid counter-attacking football.

Manchester United face Everton on Saturday and will be hoping to get back to winning ways before the international break starts.
