Both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have been contacted to renew their PSG contracts.
PSG sporting director Leonardo said on Tuesday that the negotiations with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe regarding a contract renewal are underway.
Neymar and Mbappe, who joined PSG from Barcelona and Monaco respectively, cost the club 474 million dollars in total and are currently under contract till the summer of 2022.
The star attacking duo have regularly been linked with moves away from the French giants, but the club now are working to give both of them new deals.
Neymar has been constantly linked with a return to Barcelona while his striker partner Mbappe has been regularly linked with many European giants including Real Madrid and Barcelona.
However, Leonardo told in a Q&A session on PSG’s official website that the club are in talks with both the players regarding a new deal.
We’ve started negotiations with Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria to extend their contracts,”
“Bernat, too, and Draxler is at the end of his contract. Some young people too. We will intensify this”
According to a report by ESPN, Neymar is happy to extend his contract with Les Parisiens on his existing terms.
The Brazilian superstar earns roughly 32 million pounds per year and is happy to sign a new 5 year deal with the club.
Neymar, however, has asked for assurances from Leonardo about the club’s future plans before he signs any contract which will keep him at the Parc des Princes beyond 2022.
Leonardo has also denied the news linking Mbappe to Real Madrid saying the club is in direct contact with Mbappe and the player is happy at the club. The French international, however, was reportedly keen on making a move away from Paris.
PSG who reached the final of the Champions League for the first time in their history last season will be hoping to keep both of their star players at the club and look to make that one final push to get them the European trophy they have waited for so long.
