AC Milan look to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.

After a long hiatus, the Serie A giants are back to challenging for the title and intend to continue the momentum by making moves over the January transfer window.

According to AC Milan executive Ivan Gazidis, they expect to do so by going after the “best talent in the world” in the next transfer window.

The Rossoneri are currently in inspired form as they sit on top of the league table, two points ahead of second placed Napoli. Superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was signed in January, has played a huge part in their resurgence having netted six goals in just three appearances.

Milan finally appears to be on the right track to get back to where they belong which is among Europe’s elite clubs.

Keeping that in mind, the club are expected to strengthen further in January despite the financial impact of the coronavirus which has affected the revenue of clubs all over Europe.

We are going through a positive moment, but the path is still long and challenging. The club has strong ownership behind it that has faith in the team.” Gazidis said.

“We have a clear strategy: to sign some of the best talent in the world and make them grow with us. The summer transfer window has just closed and we are very satisfied. The sports management, led by Paolo Maldini, is already preparing for the winter window and we are confident.”

“The world of football recognized, even before the coronavirus, that a more stable market would benefit everyone: clubs, players, agents and intermediaries. Personally, I have always been committed to bringing order and stability and I will continue to do so for the benefit of the world of football, both in Italy and internationally.”

Bringing in Gazidis from Arsenal in September 2018, has turned out to be a masterstroke for Milan. He had a very difficult task ahead of him, having to rebuild a Milan team which was in disarray, and which was looking to get back to challenging for the Serie A title. As evidenced by recent results, the rebuild looks to be going in the right direction.

As for rumors regarding a possible European Super League involving all the top clubs, he said that the club are playing an “active role” in the discussions.

For over 10 years, speculation has been heard about the Super League, there are many reflections underway on the so-called Super League. However, the main focus of the football world remains on the development of existing international competitions and there are no proposals that could lead to a break with the national leagues.”

“Milan is playing an active role in all discussions on the development of football: our leadership and credibility make us influential and authoritative at the various discussion tables in Serie A, ECA, UEFA and FIFA.”
