Chelsea have the potential to win the Premier League.
Chelsea are currently sitting at 5th in the Premier League table and are just 3 points off the top. Frank Lampard’s men have scored the most number of goals in the league so far. Timo Werner has found his form in his new club and Ben Chilwell has been an instant hit for the club. The Blues are looking to win the Premier League for the first time since the 16/17 season. The London side have their problems at the back but that should be sorted with the arrival of Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and especially goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Lampard’s side are up and running after two setbacks against West Brom and Southampton. The squad also lost to Liverpool at home after a goalkeeping error led Sadio Mane to break the deadlock. But the arrival of Hakim Ziyech in the starting eleven might just boost Chelsea’s chances of winning the title this season. Ziyech is an extremely good ball playing wide midfielder. The midfielder assisted two goals against Sheffield United and was largely running the show.
The Premier League is unlikely to be a one-horse race this season. Defending champions Liverpool have been struggling with injury issues, while Manchester City have had an inconsistent start to the season. Both clubs shared a point this last weekend after Kevin De Bruyne failed to score from the spot. Meanwhile, Tottenham have had a good start this season while Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal look to compete for the title as well. Chelsea can also be a title contender given their squad strength and with Hakim Ziyech feeding the attackers.
Many of the club’s attacks have been orchestrated by Ziyech as he has been responsible for creating the most chances in a single match this season at 6. The Moroccan international has been lethal against teams in the bottom half of the Premier League table and Lampard could use him and others to potentially win the title.
Lampard can set up a 4-2-3-1 formation with a double pivot of N’golo Kante and Jorginho, Mason Mount can play as the left attacking midfielder, Kai Havertz as the number 10, and Hakim Ziyech as the right flank. Lastly with Timo Werner as the number 9, along with Tammy Abraham looking to support him from the bench. The pace of Werner will be useful in the counter-attacks as Ziyech can break the deep blocks to help his German forward use his excellent finishing capabilities.
Lampard has a strong squad with multiple options on the bench during a season that’s heavily demanding, the former midfielder just needs to bring consistency to his side.
