Juventus are keen on making a move for Chelsea defender in January.
Chelsea defender, Emerson Palmieri, is looking for an exit in the winter transfer window as the addition of Ben Chilwell has pushed him down the pecking order even further. The 26-year-old is in the prime of his career and he would not be wanting to spend his peak sitting on the benches at Stamford Bridge. The Italian wing-back was wanted by Italian giants Juventus last transfer window but they were unable to attain his services as the Blues had not secured Chilwell at that point and they wanted to keep Emerson as a backup to Marcos Alonso.
Emerson was brought into Stamford Bridge by former coach, Antonio Conte. He was used heavily by the Italian coach and was also used decently by his successor, Maurizio Sarri. However, after having a falling out with Frank Lampard, the Italian played only 1 out of the last 14 Premier League games. He is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season and his 4 appearances were in the UEFA Champions League and the Carabao cup. He has made only one start so far and it does not seem like he is in Lampard’s plans.
Although the Blues rejected a bid from the Turin side last time a revised offer in January would most probably be accepted. The London side are trying to reorganize their finances after spending almost 200 million pounds on transfers. Chelsea will be trying to sell some players in the winter window to comply with the FFP regulations. Should Lampard decide to sell the player, it will not be a loss for them and the player will benefit from the move as well.
Andrea Pirlo wants the defender as a back up to Alex Sandro. Juventus are also trying to sell Federico Bernardeschi which could also give them enough to lure Emerson from Chelsea. It will be very exciting to see the Italian back in action as he is just entering his prime and seeing him wasting his years on the bench would be very disappointing to see.
