Borussia Dortmund places a massive price tag on Erling Haaland to secure him to the club.

Erling Haaland has been the new footballing sensation ever since his menacing performance in the last edition of the UEFA Champions League. He scored 10 goals in 8 games in the Champions League alone and scored a total of 44 goals in the 2 clubs that he played for. Top European clubs were all interested in buying him in particular, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Borussia Dortmund. He ended up with the German side and his value has grown exponentially since his time at RB Salzburg.

The 20-year-old who has been creating waves in European football cost the German giants merely 20 million euros. This is an amount Barcelona and United could have easily paid but he chose to go to the German side over the other prestigious clubs. Another reason why Barcelona in particular were unwilling to sign him could be due to his agent, Mino Raiola, to whom the club would have to pay a huge compensation. Many clubs are unwilling to have links with this super agent and he was also the reason why Matthijs Matthijs de Ligt did not follow Frankie de Jong to the Catalan side.

Haaland has been performing otherworldly ever since his transfer and he has already managed to score 11 goals in 11 matches this season. His incredible goal-scoring ability has left Dortmund a bit fearsome as well. They will try to prevent other clubs from luring the player away and that is why they have put a huge price tag of 80 million euros on the striker. This is reportedly 10 million over his release clause although Dortmunds’ CEO, Joachim Watzke, denied it.

Another complication when it comes to the transfer of the Norwegian is his relationship with Mino Raiola and his father. Both his agent and his father will get huge bonuses from the transfer of the player and thus anyone who wishes to buy Haaland must check if their pockets are deep enough to pay the transfer fee plus the bonuses to others involved. Reports suggest that Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are all interested in the player while Barcelona can no longer afford him due to their financial situation.
