AC Milan battle Inter for one for the future superstar.
Both the Milan clubs are battling it out for Ajax defender Perr Schuurs in a transfer tug-of-war. Schuurs has been highly rated in the football community. More so because Ajax successfully managed to find a replacement for Matthijs De Ligt in Schuurs. He arrived in Amsterdam in 2018 from Fortuna Sittard, whom he helped in promoting to the Eredivisie after 16 years, with Ajax having a contract expiring in 2022.
The competition increases with the entry of Liverpool into the fray. The English champions have been marred by injuries with both of their first-choice center-backs out injured with long-term injuries. They will be certainly looking to get back on course to defend their Premier League title. Inter Milan are eyeing Schuurs as a preparation for a scenario in case star defender Milan Skriniar ends up leaving the Nerazzurri. Meanwhile, AC Milan need to strengthen their defence certainly as they continue their good run of form in Serie A.
Schuurs is a household name for Eredevisie fans now. Excellent performances as he looks up to former captain De Ligt and strong resemblance to him has made him popular among the fans. Technique, physicality, positioning, passing range, you name it; he’s shown them all. As per reports from Calcio Mercato, these three elite clubs are currently leading the race for his signature. Considering his demand in the transfer market, we might be seeing other big clubs entering the battle soon.
Ajax will find themselves in a tough situation trying to strike the right deal. As they aren’t looking to sell him this season, the next one will be decisive; since his ongoing contract expires in 2022. If he makes up his mind not to sign a new contract, which seems very likely, he might leave for free in 2022. Just like every other young player Perr might be looking for the big step-up in his career too with multiple interested European giants knocking on his front door.
