Mesut Ozil is eyeing a move away from Arsenal at the end of the season.
A former Real Madrid superstar, a former world-class player, a player who was tipped to win the Ballon d’ Or is now not even the part of Arsenal squad. He has been left out of Mikel Arteta’s European squad as well as Domestic squad which means that he will not play any senior football this season. Mesut Ozil for many years has been under the scrutiny of fans who believe that the German international does not provide enough to justify his 350,000 pounds per week contract. This season might very well be the last season for him at the Emirates as Ozil is being eyed up by clubs from all over the globe, especially from the United States.
The Major League Soccer franchise has been known to bring many world-class players who are looking to play professionally for a few more seasons before retiring. They boasted players such as David Beckham, Thiery Henry, Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba, and most recently, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This list shows that the league is definitely growing its stature and a lot of professional players consider the MLS as a legitimate option. Ozil could join this list of high profile players who played in the MLS as he has already been offered a contract by DC United, who already had the pleasure of signing Wayne Rooney, and is now being scouted by LA Galaxy as well.
LA Galaxy is one of the most notorious clubs known for making such high profile signings and they also had Ibrahimovic on their squad for a couple of seasons. The Los Angeles based club has now taken an interest in this high profile midfielder. Although they are willing to sign him, financial restrictions might occur due to the ongoing pandemic. The signing of Ozil could be dependent on Javier Hernandez. The Mexican superstar was signed in January of 2020 and was offered a three-year contract. Hernandez, however, has not been a success story at all, and thus they are willing to replace him with Ozil.
Thus the journey of a fantastic midfielder who still possesses immense vision and talent comes to a rather bitter end. An outcast at Arsenal and being forced to move away. LA Galaxy could give the midfielder exactly what he needs, a few years of good football, and a lucrative contract. It is a sad way to departure but hopefully, his journey ahead will be more pleasant.
