Real Madrid boss warns Manchester United that their star defender is not for sale.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot to register his team’s first win at Old Trafford this season in the Premier League. The Red Devils kept a clean sheet and it will be a huge boost for the team which has conceded 14 goals so far in the league. The English giants have been looking for options to strengthen their defense in the upcoming transfer window. However, the English side has been facing a setback after Goal reported that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has stated that their defender Raphael Varane is not for sale after being linked with a move to the Premier League giants.
United have been linked with the France international for a long time but it looks like the player’s move to Old Trafford unlikely to happen. Real Madrid could lose their captain Sergio Ramos for free next summer after the Spain international has stalled contract extension talks over a conflict with the wages. The Spanish giants cannot afford to lose both of their first-choice center backs in a single transfer window.
However, Varane’s poor form has made the fans frustrated and they will be hoping to see him find his form quickly. The 27-year-old cost the tie against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League and has also scored an own goal this season. It has been seen that Varane has struggled on the pitch without his defensive partner Ramos. The French World Cup winner has won 4 Champions League and 2 La Liga titles with Real Madrid and he is among the fan favorites.
The Manchester side needs to get a new center back to partner captain Harry Maguire. Boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will be aiming to win the title and should be looking to bring in reinforcements in the winter transfer window. United have struggled at the back many times and the manager might look to sort out his defensive woes.
