Pep Guardiola prepares to rejuvenate Manchester City.
Josep Pep Guardiola signed a contract extension with Manchester City last week and this extension will be looking to bring in a new form of hope in the fans after such an uncomfortable season in 2019/20. This extension will see Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium for a total of seven years which exceeds his successful tenures at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. This will be the longest time he has been at a single club as he continues to hope to win the Champions League trophy outside of Camp Nou.
The Catalan will be looking to get back to winning ways as he lost the title out to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool last season and his start to this season has been horrific. This has been City’s worst start to a Premier League season in 12 years as Pep’s men currently sit on the 15th position in the League table.
However, the owners and the board members are on good terms with the Spanish coach as they continue to have faith in him. The Manchester side won two titles under him, however, since the end of the 2018/19 season, things have not been the same. With the exits of David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, Leroy Sane and soon-to-be-gone Fernandinho, Pep looks to be stuck in a very uncomfortable position.
His Manchester City side are best known for their attractive football and the number of goals they score but the team is surprisingly stuck at just ten goals this season after 8 game weeks. This is a very tricky situation for Pep’s squad. The team however does have ample time to turn things around and they can still challenge for the title as heavy damage has not been done yet.
The owners and staff at Manchester City are confident that Guardiola can deliver and they are hoping for the Catalan to build another title-winning side that can go big for the upcoming years.
