Isco has his mind set on leaving Real Madrid this winter.
Real Madrid midfielder Isco Alarcon has reportedly opened up to the idea of departing Santiago Bernabeu. The player’s wishes have been communicated to the club via his father and agent, Francisco Alarcon, and Real Madrid are happy to accommodate the player, whose position they understand.
Isco hasn’t been up to his best standards from what seems like almost two seasons now. He has been in and out of Zidane’s starting lineups and has mostly been kept to a squad player role. The 28-year old Spain international is aware of the fact that he might be restricted to limited playing time while still at Real.
There is no shortage of suitors for the four-time European Champion from clubs. Manchester City and Juventus have declared their interest previously and Everton have also joined in recently. The rumors linking him to Everton are particularly strong considering a reuniting with ex-coach Carlo Ancelotti. Now, two options present themselves. Either Isco leaves Real Madrid on loan with an option to buy, or he is sold outright.
With him having accumulated just 260 of the 630 LaLiga Santander minutes Real Madrid have played this season his departure seems imminent. A goal set with the Euros in sight in 2021, he’ll need to impress Luis Enrique for that. His plan had been to win back his place in Zidane’s starting XI, but the early weeks of the 2020/21 season have served as evidence that he isn’t likely to hold down a starting place. Isco knows that he’s leaving his comfort zone by departing from Madrid.
As per reports from Marca, Isco has spent months weighing up the pros and cons of asking to leave. He even spoke to Zinedine Zidane about the matter and the Frenchman didn’t try to convince him to stay. All the pieces of evidence have been pointing to an exit and the rest remains to be seen as we approach the transfer window.
