PSG set out to secure new contracts for their star duo.
PSG are prioritizing contract extensions for Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. Meanwhile, Mbappe’s rumors of a departure from Parc des Princes have gained strength as he gets linked to favorites Real Madrid again. The French champions are putting the long-term futures of a prized pairing over any possible signings at the moment. Although there have been stories rising that link Sergio Ramos coming the other way, it seems highly unlikely.
The Paris giants will certainly assess this situation closely as they would not want to fall out from their quest for a European trophy. The French side missed out narrowly last season on their maiden European triumph to Bayern Munich.
Despite intensifying talk of Ramos approaching the end of his time at the Bernabeu, Goal reports that PSG are more focused on tying Mbappe and Neymar down to fresh terms than on bringing in any new players in the winter transfer window. The French champions are also planning to take a far more conservative approach in the transfer market due to the ongoing financial constraints caused by the coronavirus pandemic, with matchday revenue still very low as stadiums in France continue to operate with a reduced capacity.
Mbappe has been linked with Madrid and Neymar was linked to Barcelona at the start of 2020, but both players have insisted that they are content in their current surroundings in more recent times. The star forwards will become free agents in the summer of 2022 and they enter the last year of their contract in the following year.
The particular case of Mbappe has been in cold water for quite a long time. The club management has been trying their best to convince him on renewing his contract for quite some time now.
From what it seems, the situation of Neymar and Mbappe will be crystal clear in a few days to come.
