Liverpool want to make two January departures to raise funds.
Liverpool are no strangers to using the January transfer window in the past to improve their squad.
The winter signings have often proved to be a big success at the club, with the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Luis Suarez, and Daniel Sturridge all joined the current Premier League champions during the January transfer market.
And once again it looks like Liverpool will need to enter the market if they are to challenge for multiple silverware this season.
Liverpool have been facing a massive injury crisis this season having already suffered a total of nineteen injuries till now. The club is down to bare bones in both defense and midfield departments.
The likes of Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are already likely to miss the whole season and to make matters worse, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri are still out injured.
This injury crisis prompted Liverpool manager to play Rhys Williams, Neco Williams, Kostas Tsimikas and Divock Origi against Atalanta, what many expected to be a routine victory for the Group D table toppers, the reds lost 2-0, the midfield and defense couldn’t handle the likes of Alejandro Gomez and Josip Ilicic.
Origi has seen his minutes massively diminish this season following Jota’s incredible start to life at Anfield. Prior to the game against Atalanta, he had played just three matches all season.
The Belgian forward, who has built a cult status at Anfield for some famous goals over the years, needs to grasp any opportunity with both hands. But he failed to do so against the Italian giants before being hauled off by Klopp at the hour mark, just after Liverpool conceded.
Shaqiri is another man who has struggled to get minutes this season and while he has filled in as an attacking midfielder at times this season, he has consistently suffered from injury problems.
Klopp would want to have a squad who can stay fit and he can rely on and with so many injury problems in defense, the Liverpool manager could very well look to sell both Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi in order to raise some funds. A price of 30 million pounds is what Liverpool are looking to gain for the duo according to the rumors.
