Bayern Munich prepared to battle it out for Denis Zakaria.

The 23-year old Swiss is currently one of the most sought after young Bundesliga talents in the world. Having been in great form for Borussia Monchengladbach, he has continued his great form from last season. Currently, many elite clubs have been chasing his signature including League winners Bayern Munich.

Zakaria’s contract in Gladbach runs until the summer of 2022. If he does not renew at Borussia, he should be a sale candidate after the current season in order to generate a transfer fee. Since Bayern are pushing hard for his sign, as a defensive midfielder, it could be assumed that he would be in competition with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Corentin Tolisso, Marc Roca, and Tanguy Nianzou for a position within Hansi Flick’s double-pivot.

The Switzerland international was signed by Monchengladbach in July 2017 from Young Boys for a fee of 12 million euros. He’s incredibly experienced for a 23-year-old and still has tons of room for growth. Calcio Mercato report that Bayern want swift movements to secure their target and are ready to challenge Manchester City in that regard.

Bayern Munich will have to present a really convincing offer to bring it to the negotiating table. The Bundesliga giants have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

Borussia Monchengladbach would be wise to keep the Switzerland international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a large sum of money.

The other challengers for him are Manchester United, who believe that a new defensive midfielder could well be required as 32-year-old Nemanja Matic approaches the end of his career.

Denis Zakaria has all the skillset required to be a success story at all of the aforementioned clubs , although how strong that interest is and whether clubs will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
