Inter star, Christian Eriksen, could be on his way out of the club in January.
When Antonio Conte took over Inter Milan, he made some transfers which left critics and fans a bit baffled. Failed Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young, Alexis Sanchez, and Victor Mosses. It seemed like the Italian manager was making a team out of all the black sheep in the Premier League. All of these players failed to reach their potential in their respective clubs, apart from Young, and Conte decided to bring them to Inter at a cheap price to make a team out of them. The only player whom he bought, who was regarded as a world-class player was Christian Eriksen, and now it seems like the player will move away from the club in January.
Eriksen was an absolute sensation in Tottenham Hotspurs. His vision, dribbling, and incredible assists made him a fan favorite at the club. However, the Danish was unhappy with the direction in which the London club was going. Even though the club was filled with talented players, they had no trophies to show for themselves. Eriksen was linked with Real Madrid but they ultimately dropped interest in the player. It was very evident that the player was itching for a way out of the club and thus in January of 2020, Spurs finally let him go for a fee of merely 20 million euros as he was on the last few months of his contract.
He was Conte’s Marquee signing and the only one that made sense. However, although Lukaku and Sanchez have gone on to flourish at the club, it has been quite the opposite for the 28-year-old midfielder. Conte tried many different strategies with Eriksen and even changed the entire formation of the team to fit in the player however, it seems as if the player left his magic back in Tottenham. In his first season at Inter Milan, Eriksen could only manage to score four goals and provide three assists in 26 appearances.
This was less than ideal and Conte obviously felt that Eriksen was not the man for the job. This season, the Danish player has taken a backseat at the club and has only made four starts so far. He has failed to make an impact on any of the games he has played and has thus fallen out of the manager’s good books. Now he is usually used as a substitute but at the age of only 28, he will not be happy to be stuck as a bench warmer.
According to reports, the midfielder is eyeing a move away from the club and a top Premier League side has already shown interest in him. This club is none other than Tottenham’s biggest rival, Arsenal. The North London side is apparently interested in buying the player in January but the only problem is that being a fan favorite with Spurs, it’s going to hard to put on the red and white jersey. If Eriksen can look past the fierce rivalry of the two clubs, the change of scene would do him a world of good as he no longer fits into Conte’s managerial system.
