Inter Milan superstar defender approached by Spurs.
Jose Mourinho can add the highly-rated Inter Milan defender to his squad when the January transfer window opens if he presents Inter with an offer as soon as possible. The speculated asking price for the Slovakian centre-back has been estimated at around 45 million euros as we understand from Football Insider. Inter are looking to replenish their transfer budget and Milan Skriniar has been on the radar as one of their disposable assets.
Skriniar is in his fourth season at San Siro having grossed over a hundred appearances. A deal looked close when Tottenham bid farewell to veteran centre-back Jan Vertonghen, who departed on a free to Benfica. But Jose choose to go for Swansea youngster Joe Rodon instead. With doubts on the futures of options Toby Alderwereild and Davinson Sanchez, it seems that Skriniar coming to Spurs is indeed very possible.
And with the defender available for just £45m, all eyes will be on North London when the January window opens. It is understood the Serie A club were demanding close to 50 million, while Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was only willing to part with 30 million euros for the 25-year-old. Reports in Italy have claimed that Inter have made progress in their bid to find a replacement for Skriniar as well.
As for Davinson, the Colombian has been frozen out since a bad display in the 3-3 draw against West Ham; where they threw away a 3-0 lead -and his long-term future at the club is up in the air. Spurs may be forced into the market if a buyer can be found for Sanchez.
Skriniar has started only four of Inter’s nine Serie A matches this season but missed three of those due to contracting COVID-19. But Tottenham are continuing to keep tabs on Skriniar going into the January window. Rest remains to be seen.
