Ajax full-back looking for a move to the Premier League.
Nicolas Tagliafico is a hot prospect in the transfer market right now and there is no shortage of suitors either. The Argentine left-back is preferring a move to the Premier League. Reports from Daily Mail suggest that the clubs hot on his tail are Leicester City and Manchester City. City are reportedly plotting a move for the Ajax left-back who is adored by boss Pep Guardiola. Cityzens have identified Tagliafico as an ideal candidate to provide competition to Benjamin Mendy at left-back.
Manchester City have already spent big in the summer window to upgrade their defense. A marquee signing of Portuguese center-back, Ruben Dias and a Premier League known name, Nathan Ake. The City boss is reportedly concerned over the fitness and availability of first-choice left-back Benjamin Mendy, who has struggled with form and injuries over the past year.
With the other left-back option being Oleksandr Zinchenko, whose future is in serious moments at Manchester; City are now keen on solving their left-back issues with the signing of Nicolas. Tagliafico will have only two and a half years remaining on his contract with Ajax in January 2021 and the Eredivisie giants have put up a reported 23 million euros price tag on the defender.
On the other hand, Leicester City look to make amends with the 50 million euros gained from the transfer of Ben Chilwell. A European replacement for Chilwell is Leicester’s preferred option. Foxes’ management has been very highly regarded for their international contacts and scouting methods.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is in no rush as he already has a vastly experienced left-back in Christian Fuchs and a young, developing talent in Luke Thomas, who signed a new long-term contract at the club earlier this week. It’s also thought Leicester are prepared to wait until much later in the transfer window to do their deals. it remains to be seen where the talented southpaw lands up.
