Mesut Ozil planning to join an MLS side after the current season finishes.

Mikel Arteta made a big decision by leaving Mesut Ozil out of both the Premier League squad and the Europa League squad. This has effectively frozen out Ozil from the club unless Arteta makes a change in the second half of the season. The North London side will be looking to offload the German in January, as they will be hoping to reimburse some of the money spent on his huge weekly wages. Ozil, on the other hand, has been looking into his options and believes that MLS might be the right choice for his career.

The 32-year-old has not been very impactful at Arsenal in recent years and fans have even been complaining about his all-around laziness. The midfielder, who gets 350,000 pounds per week. is expected to play in every single game. However, he only played 23 times last season in all competitions and he will probably not even play a single game this season. The creative midfielder who had immense talent and a hawk-like vision used to be the creativity of Arsenal. He used to dominate the midfield and make mind-boggling passes but over the years, his injuries and his lethargic nature have crippled him to the bench.

He was not used much by Arteta and only started in 18 games in the Premier League last season. Now a move is on Arsenal’s mind as the player is running out of his contract. Should they be unable to sell him in January, Ozil will leave as a free agent in June. This will be a huge loss for the club and thus they must try to get at least a little bit of money from his sale.

MLS clubs such as D.C. United, L.A. Galaxy, and Inter Miami have all shown interest in the fallen star. The clubs will likely have to pay a lot in wages as Ozil expects the same lucrative contract that he is enjoying at Arsenal. Inter Miami could be the club that goes for him. The Florida side which is co-owned by David Beckham has been making a number of big-name transfers such as Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain. They were also linked with Chelsea star, Olivier Giroud. Signing Ozil would be huge for the franchise as he is an instantly recognizable name and the move will also benefit the player as he will be able to kick start his career again.
