David Alaba to Real Madrid deal slow on progress due to his wage demands.
David Alaba is ready to look for a new challenge away from Bayern Munich. Alaba and speculations surrounding him have been doing rounds in the transfer market. The recent list of suitors just keeps increasing with time. Several teams, like Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid, are keen on signing the Austrian defender but his salary demands are inconvenient.
After disagreeing on terms with Bayern based on wage demands, he is one of the most wanted players in the market. The Austrian national’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has offered him to several elite clubs. Although these clubs would still consider him as an option; his wage demands are pretty heavy to accommodate currently. As per Sport, Real Madrid are incredibly interested to sign him since he is one of the most versatile options available currently.
But his 20 million wage demand per year is what is stopping Florentino Perez. They want to sign him but are not ready to pay that much on wages due to the financial damage caused by the coronavirus crisis. Despite that, negotiations can step up on Jan. 1, when Alaba moves into the final six months of his contract in Munich, to see if they can knock those 20 million euros down.
The other clubs willing to secure his services are PSG and Chelsea. Chelsea management intends to meet with the Alaba representative in the coming January. They intend to convince the footballer that Chelsea is the ideal destination for him in the future.
At Stamford Bridge, they trust that the offer they make will put them in pole position on the long list of interested parties. Blues’ boss Frank Lampard has shown a massive interest in securing his services mostly because of his highly versatile approach.
