Liverpool bad luck with injuries continues as Diogo Jota now out

Liverpool have been hit with another injury blow as Diogo Jota looks set to be out for 2 months with a knee injury he suffered against Midtjyland.

The former Wolves attacker featured for the Reds midweek as Liverpool settled for a 1-1 draw with Midtjyland.

That match is set to be his last one in quite awhile, as Jurgen Klopp revealed ahead of Sunday’s clash with Fulham that the Reds will be without Jota due to injury.

In an interview with Skysports the Liverpool manager said :

Klopp on Jota: “It’s worse than we first thought but better than we then thought. The potential surgeons had a look but no surgery necessary. He will be out for a while, one-and-a-half to two months, we don’t know exactly. It’s pretty similar with Kostas Tsimikas. Unbelievable.

Jota who moved to Liverpool this summer from Wolves in a reported forty million pounds deal started his season very well scoring nine times in seventeen games this season. He now faces a lengthy spell in the side-lines as Liverpool suffer another major blow in their title bid.

To make matters worse for the Premier League champions, summer signing Kostas Tsimikas has also been ruled out for two months, meaning all three summer signings of Liverpool have been ruled out due to injury.

Liverpool have been suffering from a big injury crisis this season, they currently have nine first-team players out injured. Centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are expected to miss the majority of the rest of the season, while midfielders Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, and Xherdan Shaqiri remain out injured.

Klopp was dealt a further injury blow during the Fulham match with central defender Joel Matip withdrawn at halftime after suffering a back problem.

The Liverpool manager was at least able to welcome back goalkeeper Alisson Becker against Fulham, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was also fit again for a place on the bench.
