Pirlo scouting two Chelsea players as Juventus struggles in the league.
It has not been the strongest start for Juventus this season. Although they have not lost a single league game till now, they still find themselves in fourth position, four points behind league leaders, AC Milan. For any other team, it would be a very good start, given that a new manager has been appointed however, in the case of Juventus, this is not acceptable. After winning Serie A for nine years in a row, it is pretty much expected of them to be on the top of the table.
Thus, to combat this dip in form, new manager Andrea Pirlo has started scouting for new players. It is true that Juventus’s squad needs a bit more depth as some of their players have been performing well below par. Players such as Pablo Dybala have really been struggling. The Argentine is supposed to be the face of the club but has only managed to score two goals in all competitions.
The two players Pirlo is looking to swoop up from the West London side, are Olivier Giroud and Emerson Palmieri. These choices make a lot of sense and the players might even be willing to leave Chelsea. Emerson has been the second choice left-back after Ben Chilwell’s arrival and has only made one appearance in the Premier League so far. Giroud, on the other hand, was complaining a few weeks ago about his game time. Frank Lampard played him for a few games after that and he showed his worth by scoring four goals against Sevillia in the UEFA Champions League clash.
Juventus has always had a problem at the left-back position with Alex Sandro and Gianluca Frabotta being their only option. Danilo is their make-shift left-back but it means that he is being played out of position. Bringing in Emerson would solve their problems as the Italian already has a lot of top tier club football experience as well as Serie A experience.
Giroud would be a bit tougher to bring in as the player has been playing very well for Chelsea recently and Lampard has been putting his faith in him. To bring in a player in such a good form, the Italians would have to make a very good offer but they cannot offer him the role of their main striker as they already have players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata to fill up those spots. Thus, this is one transfer that may not happen.
