Mikel Arteta wants to bring in out-of-favor Real Madrid superstar.

Things could change around Arsenal soon as rumors have it that Mikel Arteta is trying to bring in a real superstar. The player that we are talking about is none other than Real Madrid’s fallen hero, Isco. The Spanish midfielder has become the new Gareth Bale of the club and his life under Zidane is mostly sitting on the bench. Isco has made it clear that he will be leaving the club in January and Arsenal have joined the list of clubs that could potentially acquire him.

Isco used to be a regular player for Real Madrid until three years ago. He was a great midfielder with incredible skills and brought in a good amount of goals and assists to the club each season. This, however, changed drastically after the 2017/18 season as he could only manage to score six goals the next season and provide just one assist in 37 appearances across all competitions. His game time dropped significantly and although Zidane did try to give him his moments, he just could not emulate the performance of his previous seasons.

His poor performances in cameos along with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos running the show was enough for him to be thrown down the pecking order. He has barely played at all this season and has made only three starts in the La Liga out of a possible 13. He has also played only one game in the UEFA Champions League, a tournament which he has won four times with the club. According to his achievements, he should be playing every game of the season but his performances tell a different story. Plus with the lack of consistent game time, his performance has degraded even further.

Arsenal would be a perfect club for the troubled player. The club has had a horrendous start to the season and they need a star man to take a hold of the midfield and provide for the amazing strikers upfront. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are two brilliant strikers who have been underperforming this season as they really need a good midfield to provide them with chances. Should Arteta be able to land them the transfer, Arsenal’s season could still be salvaged.

The Gunners have already lost eight games in the league and are sitting in the 15th position. Things could not look any worse for them and they must sort out this mess before they plunge any further into the hole. Isco would be a good change for the club but they have to fight against clubs like Juventus, Sevilla, and AC Milan, all of whom want to acquire the fallen star.
