Lionel Messi to unite with Neymar again?
As understood from TalkSPORT, Lionel Messi moving to PSG is a real possibility as he has expressed his displeasure over the situation at the club publicly. A move to PSG seems like it is in the works, as Barcelona appear to be resigned to losing their star man when his contract runs out next summer.
There is still hope that Messi, 33, will remain at Barcelona and sign a new contract but after he demanded to leave last summer but only stayed due to legal reasons, the Argentine superstar is being chased by Manchester City, PSG and others. But the move is more dependent than it seems on the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. Although PSG are known for their rich owners and great financial condition, accommodating Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar in the wage bill is too humongous for them.
Barcelona presidential candidate Emili Rousaud has also had some eye-raising things to say, as he is clearly planning for Messi to leave in the summer as he said his wages are unsustainable for Barcelona’s future. Despite the departure of club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner remains unhappy in Catalonia and the rumor mill is in full swing with just six months left on his contract.
Messi was apparently tired and infuriated by the abysmal decisions of the management led by Bartomeu. He wanted to leave Barcelona because he wanted to win trophies. It has nothing to do with money, which is what Rousaud said. Messi wants to be at a club which is ambitious, is making the right signings and has a team around him who can help him win.
Neymar recently admitted he wants to play alongside Messi again, having combined in a devastating partnership at Barca between 2013 and 2017. Neymar has, of course, been routinely linked with a move back to Barcelona over the last few years. But, with the long-term future of Kylian Mbappe in doubt amid strong links with a mega-money move to Real Madrid, it is now instead claimed Messi could join the Brazilian in France.
It remains to be seen if we will be seeing Neymar and Messi in the same colors again.
