Liverpool and PSG are looking to secure a Real Madrid midfielder.
Both Liverpool and PSG prepare for a tough transfer window in the summer of 2021. The clubs have incredible star power in their ranks, but they have been strongly linked with a move outside the club. Liverpool have once again been linked with a big-money move for Marco Asensio of Real Madrid, according to reports from Todo Fichajes.
The Spaniard is not the same after the injury and is that his contribution to Zidane’s schemes has not been as much as we had expected. New arrival Eden Hazard so far has failed to impress the Madrid loyalists despite being marred with injuries. The Bernabeu faithfuls’ were confident that Asensio had the ability in him to lead the line alongside veterans like Bale and Benzema. But now that Bale is gone and Asensio certainly not in the best of forms, Karim Benzema has had to take most of their attacking burden on himself. This can cost him his departure from the Madrid club at the end of this season.
The Spanish winger has an ongoing contract that runs till 2023 and has been slammed a 700 million euros release clause by Florentino Perez. In previous seasons, we have seen the Liverpool management being interested in securing his services. He was touted to be one of the best players in the world by this age. Albeit he is still young and has a world of time and room left for improvement, it is still worth thinking whether he deserves a gamble or not.
But Pool are not alone in the race, with PSG battling them out. PSG do understand the situation of Kylian Mbappe, and they will try to take Asensio for the 2021/22 season. An offer for Mbappe that includes the shifting of Marco to the French champions is also a big possibility.
After suffering a major ACL injury last summer, the player returned to the fray earlier this year. Asensio has scored thrice and assisted twice but he has not been able to emulate those numbers this time around. With all that obvious talent in him, it is really worth thinking why would he leave Real at this time.
