AC Milan manager is extremely pleased with their signing of Ibrahimovic

When AC Milan signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January of 2020, fans and pundits were not too thrilled. Bringing in a 39-year-old to such an elite club seemed like mismanagement to some but once again the Swedish king lived up to his name. He far exceeded expectations and continued his great form on to the next season. The player is currently sidelined due to a calf muscle injury with no confirmed return date. It is understandable that Stefano Pioli wants to get back his star player as soon as possible but does not want to risk another injury by rushing his recovery process.

The former Swedish International is no doubt one of the greatest in the game. He has performed in multiple top leagues over the world and even has a very good international record. His carefree attitude and god complex has actually helped him maintain his form over the years. He is still playing at a top league at the age of 39, which is almost unheard of. Ibrahimovic came back from the MLS to have a second go at San Siro and he has been a nonstop machine ever since.

In his first season back, he scored 10 goals in 16 Serie A starts and went on to only improve his impressive form in the next season. In the 2020-21 season, Zlatan has already scored 10 goals in six league matches and is only behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku. He is currently out of action due to injury but Milan are still doing very well without him and are currently in pole position, 10 points ahead of the holders.

Milan’s manager talked about the importance of Ibrahimovic in their team and why he wants to bring back the player as soon as possible. In a pre-match news conference, Pioli said,

“When he arrived, we knew it was a delicate moment, it was a godsend, it gave a shock and energy that the team did not have at that moment,”

“He can’t wait to get back, but we need caution, I hope he can come back as soon as possible.”

Zlatan has once again proved that age is just a number and that he can still compete with the best at his age. While he had to deal with injuries and coronavirus, he has still been extremely impactful to AC Milan and if they go on to win the Scudetto, it will be thanks to the immortal king.
