Barcelona had the chance to secure Kylian Mbappe instead of Ousmane Dembele.
New reports have completely shaken up the fanbase of Football club Barcelona as they could have reportedly landed Paris Saint-Germain gem Kylian Mbappe back in 2017. Ex Camp Nou director, Javier Bordas claims that the Blaugrana could have landed Mbappe from Monaco back in 2017 but failed to do so as they chose to go after former Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele.
This particular piece of news will surely dishearten many Barcelona fans as Dembele has been a complete flop in comparison to the transfer fee for which he was signed for. Whereas, Mbappe just reached a total amount of 100 goals in all competitions for PSG since his arrival at the Parc des Princes in the 2017/18 season.
Dembele has been ridden with injuries since his arrival at the Nou Camp. He failed to live up to the hype he had created back in the Signal Iduna Park. The Frenchman has been extremely unlucky with injuries but to some point staying fit is also a personal responsibility that should be fulfilled for the best interest of the football club. The French international started the season very well this season but again he is currently out with another injury which is going to see him out for quite a while.
As for Barcelona, they could have landed ex-Monaco starlet Mbappe in just around 100 million euros according to ex Nou Camp director Javier Bordas. Instead, the Catalans went for the former Dortmund’s rising star. If this particular statement by Javier Bordas is true then it would mean that the Blaugrana have faced one of the biggest losses in recent history given the talent and the potential Mbappe has under his belt as he led his team to a World Cup in 2018.
