Messi reveals that he had thought about playing in Major League Soccer.

There is only seven more months left and then Lionel Messi will officially become a free agent. Many clubs will be trying to gain his signature after his time with Barcelona is up and although the Argentine says that he has not made up his mind, he will most probably leave the Catalans. Messi will have a plethora of options to chose from and he could join any top team in the world thus it was very surprising when he said that he might join North American league, Major League Soccer.

In an extensive interview with La Sextathe six time Ballon d’Or winner admitted that he had thought about bringing his European career to an end and settling down in the United States of America. This came as a shock for many fans as no one thought he could end his european run so soon. When asked about the possibility for a move to the MLS, Messi replied by saying,

“I always had the dream of being able to enjoy and have the experience of living in the United States, experience what the league there is like.”

However, the 33-year-old went on to clarify that he had not decided on anything yet and that he was still a Barcelona player till the season end. He does not want to get linked with clubs as it would affect his current season and thus he wishes all transfer talks to be held off until the end of the season.

“No [I won’t talk with other clubs because] I don’t have anything clear until the end of the year,”

“I am going to wait for the season to finish. The important thing is to think about the team and to try and win titles, not to get distracted with other issues.”

Should the Argentine legend move to the MLS however, it will most likely be to South Florida Franchise, Inter Miami. Lionel Messi already owns a seven million dollar apartment in the Porsche Towers, located in Miami. He also has a good relationship with team owner, David Beckham and thus it seems only logical that he would join the rising MLS club. Beckham is also trying to bring Luis Suarez to his club and if he can succeed in doing so, he will probably have a good chance of bringing Messi to the club as well.
