Rio Ferdinand hails Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly.

Manchester United extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 10 games with a home win against Aston Villa. Villa almost equalized in the stoppage time but the heroic block of Eric Bailly saved the day for Ole’s team. The African center-back has started 4 straight games for the first time since 17/18 and Manchester United have looked tight at the back with his presence along with captain Harry Maguire.

The fans are delighted to Maguire and Bailly in the starting eleven and according to Goal, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand thinks Bailly is an ideal centre-back partner for the England international. Maguire is an excellent ball-playing defender and good with headers but he lacks pace, Bailly has done an excellent job to cover for the English man at the back and his pace has been an important factor for the fair to work successfully together.

Former United manager Jose Mourinho signed Bailly in the 16/17 season but the African has not found his feet at the club due to injury issues. Bailly has most been sidelined at the club and missed many major games. Maguire has played the most minutes for the club in 2020 but the injury issues of his partner will be troubling Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. If United are looking to challenge for the title, they should have a good squad depth that they lacked last season.

The Red Devils are level on points with table toppers Liverpool and can go on top if they avoid a defeat against Burnley. Ole’s men face Jurgen’s side this month and the fixture can possibly be a title decider this season. Manchester United have looked vulnerable at the back this season and they conceded 6 goals at home against Tottenham but their attacking display has been excellent this season. Defender Victor Lindelof is likely to available for the North-West Derby.
