Inter Miami are trying to secure out of favor Premier League goalkeeper.
Inter Miami has been in the news quite a few times in recent weeks due to their links with Lionel Messi. When the Argentine declared that he thought about playing in the MLS, people correlated it with David Beckham’s club. This time they are again linked with another top-class player. Although he is nowhere near as glamourous as Messi, they are linked with Everton’s second choice keeper, Jonas Lossl, which is much more realistic.
The current keeper for the South Florida franchise is John McCarthy who replaced veteran, Luis Robles after the club decided to not extend his contract. They also have 23-year-old Drake Callender in their team but one look at both the keepers’ histories reveals that they have never played for an elite side. David Beckham has a vision to make his team the best in the MLS and in the whole of North America. However, this will not happen until he makes some big money transfers. He already brought in the likes of Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain thus it would be a step in the right direction to bring in a keeper who has played in Europe’s top competitions.
Lossl has immense experience in the top leagues. He played for clubs such as Guingamp, FSV Mainz 05, Huddersfield and Everton. He has also played for the Danish national team and was in the squad in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He is currently back in Merseyside after a period of loan at Huddersfield but is yet to make any appearances. With Jordan Pickford maintaining his position between the sticks, it is getting incredibly hard for Lossl to get game time.
He needs to be more frequent if he wishes to participate in the upcoming Euros and the World Cup next year and is thus looking for a move away. Inter Miami and French giants, Olympique Marseille, are the two teams currently trying to secure his signature. Miami have a lot to change around their club and a decent keeper between the sticks would be a good start.
