Tottenham still want Eriksen.
Tottenham Hotspurs have again been linked for a return of their former star midfielder, Christian Eriksen. Eriksen has been out of Inter Milan coach Conte’s plans and would certainly love a return to Wembley. But a tougher situation will arise upon his arrival as to how Jose Mourinho will accommodate all the stars in the midfield.
A move for Eriksen also depends on the condition of Dele Alli at the club. Alli quite visibly is not in the plans of Jose but the management still trust him and they are reluctant to sanction a move for him, as we understand from Guardian. Dele is very frustrated at the lack of game time and will like to restore his career elsewhere.
Although Mourinho was quoted saying,
“Times are not easy. The club made a big effort in the summer to try and build a good squad. Honestly, if something good happened to us, it would be a big surprise for me. I don’t feel the right to ask for something.”
French champions, Paris Saint-Germain are heavily linked with both Dele as well as Eriksen. From the looks of it they will be signing either one of them and the other would probably be at Wembley. The creative outlet of Tottenham took a hit as Giovani Lo Celso, is sidelined with an injury for almost a month. Alli would have certainly hoped that this would bring a change in his fortunes, but Jose opted for Harry Winks instead.
The question that remains is that whether transfer-listing Alli is of any use to Spurs. Alli has not been in the best of form and has struggled to make a serious impact in his limited appearances as well. In such situations, whether elite clubs be willing to bring in a luxury player at the cost of his wages into their respective sides is yet to be seen.
