Frank Lampard enters the race to secure young talent, Upamencano.

22-year-old Dayot Upamencano is the newest talent to turn heads all around Europe. Elite clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool all want his signature. With a strong demeanor and no-nonsense attitude, he is becoming one of the stand-out players at RB Leipzig. His brilliant performances have brought him a ton of attention and now Chelsea Boss, Frank Lampard also wishes to add the French defender to his already stacked squad.

Chelsea have a bit of a defensive problem they still need to sort out. Last season they had an absolute nightmare with their defense and thus Lampard brought in experienced veteran, Thiago Silva, to lead them. He also brought in Ben Chilwell who had started off quite well but is still settling in, and lastly, he brought in a new goalkeeper, Eduardo Mendy, to replace the failing Kepa Arrizabalaga. This season while in some games the backline looks solid, in other games, they completely fail to coordinate and concede a lot of goals.

The Blues are going through a dip in form and Lampard’s job is under pressure. The ex-English midfielder must sort out his problems or he risks an early exit from his position as manager. He has chosen Kurt Zouma and Silva as his main center-back combination but he realizes that he needs someone younger to replace the Brazilian permanently. There is no guarantee that Andreas Christensen or Antonio Rudiger will stick around and thus bringing in talent such as Upamencano would be brilliant for the club.

The defender is young but talented and has a lot of flair. He is not afraid to carry the ball forward or show off his skills to keep possession however, he can also assess the danger and can clear his line without much ado. He is a confident player with great physical abilities and he will be perfect for the west London side. His six feet in height also gives him a lot of advantage to head balls away and overall he has a very big and intimidating physique which is perfect for the rough nature of the Premier League.

The only problem that Chelsea will face is the competition. Although he has a low release clause of 40 million euros, there is a lot of competition from different teams including two rival teams, Liverpool and Manchester United. Leipzig will also try their level best to keep the player as he is a real gem and should not be let go of. It will be tough to bring him to Stamford Bridge but if Lampard manages to do so, it will be an absolute steal.
