Manchester United victory dependent on Paul Pogba

Manchester United are leading in the Premier League in January for the first time since 2013. However, no one expected the team to lead the Premier League table at the end of matchday 18 after their horror start to the season with Crystal Palace and getting humiliated at home by Tottenham Hotspurs. The arrival of Bruno Fernandes has been a key factor to the side and Marcus Rashford has been continuing his fine form this season too.

However, Paul Pogba‘s performances this season have been one of the most important factors for Manchester United’s good form and according to reports by Goal, Manchester United legend, Gary Neville believes the Frenchman will play a key role in United’s title challenge. The French world cup winner scored a world-class goal against West Ham to equalize and scored another great goal against Burnley to seal all 3 points for his side.

Pogba struggled at the start of the season after recovering from COVID-19 but he has been in fine form in recent weeks and has been dictating Manchester United’s games. Jose Mourinho signed the 27-year-old in 2016 for a record transfer fee of 89 million pounds back then but the duo had their differences in the 18/19 season and Jose was sacked after losing to Liverpool at Anfield.

Pogba is a world-class footballer but his lack of consistency had cost his side and led to criticism from media and fans alike. The United fans will be expecting to see more of Pogba and Bruno as both of them have been very good this season.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Frenchman is likely to leave his current club next summer with Juventus as a possible destination but the player has been a great professional so far on the pitch. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to keep his best players fit and improve the squad depth if he wants to win the Premier League this season, and surely Pogba is an important aspect, if not the linchpin.
