Liverpool have been suffering this season due to injury issues. Dutch star, Virgil Van Dijk and England defender, Joe Gomez have been sidelined for the entire season. Portugal international Diogo Jota is also sidelined who has been in fine form in front of goal since joining the Merseyside club. Jurgen Klopp’s side is currently third in the league table but their defensive crisis continues. Joel Matip, Rhys Williams, Nat Phillips, and Fabinho are among the available center backs and Captain, Jordan Henderson is made to play as a make-shift center back.
Liverpool are looking to bring a new center-back before the winter transfer window ends and according to reports by Goal, Schalke defender Ozan Kabak is one of the options. They have also reported that 25-year-old Preston defender, Ben Davies has undergone his medical on Monday and the deal is likely to proceed forward. Liverpool paid 2 million pounds for Ben Davies and are looking to bring one more defender.
Kabak is also a transfer target for Liverpool’s rival Manchester United. The Red Devils are currently second in the table and they showed interest in signing the Turkish defender but the interest got cooled off. The Turkey international has been linked with the Merseyside club for a long time and the deal may proceed before the end of the current transfer window.
Kabak’s arrival at Liverpool will allow manager, Jurgen Klopp to move Henderson back in midfield along with Thiago and Georgino Wijnaldum. The England international boosts his side’s performance with his immense work rate on the field and the side is currently lacking that.
The Reds are looking to win back to back Premier League titles and level with Manchester United. Liverpool’s squad strength has been reduced due to so many injuries but they have found the consistency in the last two games and are looking like a real force.
