Manchester City youngster Eric Garcia has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp to play for Barcelona. The youngster has been linked with a move back to Catalunya since the arrival of coach Ronald Koeman. However, the 19-year-old center back is still stuck at the City of Manchester Stadium due to Barcelona’s humongous debts. Eric Garcia was surely about to leave Pep Guardiola for the Dutchman in the current January Transfer Window of 2021 but is apparently still stuck.
Many sources across Europe have guaranteed a move for Eric Garcia to Barcelona but it still looks stuck as of now. The 19-year-old even refused to sign a new deal with Guardiola’s team after they had offered him a very attractive long term contract. It is understood that the Spaniard wants to return to his boyhood club as he is originally from the La Masia academy.
The Catalans have had a heavy interest in the Manchester City man since the arrival of Koeman. However, two transfer windows and six months later Garcia is still Pep’s fifth choice center back at the Etihad Stadium. The youngster has done everything on his part like make statements about his wanted return and defy Manchester City offers to join his boyhood club again but the club has failed to come around so far. The Blaugranas are in some serious debt which amounts to a total of 1.2 billion euros, and thus transfers have been hindered.
Barcelona struggle to pay a reduced price for much wanted Garcia
As of now, with the postponed presidential election and financial problems, even a decreased price of 3 million euros by Manchester City for Eric Garcia looks to be a tough mark to reach for the La Liga giants. It does not yet look like the 19-year-old will be playing some top tier football as Ruben Dias, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, and Nathan Ake have seemed to become Pep Guardiola’s main choices.
However, Guardiola doesn’t desire to lose such a talented youngster and hopes to keep him at City. Meanwhile, Barcelona are fighting hard for Eric, whom they see as a long term replacement to currently injured, Gerard Pique.
