Chelsea traveled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their third Premier League game under Thomas Tuchel. All went well as the former Paris Saint Germain coach came out victorious in the Premier League blockbuster clash against Jose Mourinho. The Blues went three points clear of Spurs and now are at a total tally of 36 after this victory. However, as usual, things did not go as smoothly in the post-match conferences with Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese national football coach is pretty famous for his excuses after a match that does not go the way of his team, as many would agree.
In this case, the former Chelsea FC manager ended up taking jibes at the match referee. According to Jose Mourinho, the referee did not do his job and failed to stay fair equally. Jose stated that it was not Andre Marriner’s best performance. To quote, ”I didn’t like it” were the exact words said by Jose Mourinho about first official Andre Marriner’s performance last night. The Portuguese man is well known for coming up with an innumerable amount of excuses after a particular match that does not go the way of his team and this was merely another one of those incidents.
The problem was with Jorginho’s 24th-minute penalty which earned Tuchel’s team the victory. Jose Mourinho was not exactly a huge fan of the way the penalty was awarded to Chelsea after Timo Werner was fouled by Eric Dier in the box. The former Real Madrid manager felt that it was a soft decision and the fact that they lost through a single penalty does not reflect the spirited display his side put up.
Tottenham Hotspur now currently sit at 8th position in the Premier League table. Spurs are 11 points off of the top behind leaders Manchester City. The league has been extremely crunched this season as such a close gap of points separates the top 8 of the table.
