Dani Olmo has expressed his strong desire to play in La Liga in his home country. The Spaniard was being linked to a move to giants Barcelona before moving to RB Leipzig from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2020. Olmo has already impressed for his clubs earning call-ups for the Spain national team.
“I would be lying if I said that it is not my goal to play in my home country at some point, but I am not thinking about that. I am really focused on Leipzig.”
Olmo was an important part of the German side that enjoyed an incredible run to the semis of the Champions League. He has represented them on 31 occasions and has been involved in 12 goals. He also revealed that he had offers from Premier League and Serie A clubs as well but chose Bundesliga ahead of them as a stepping stone.
Real Madrid alerted by RB Leipzig youngster’s statement.
He also spoke to Mundo Deportivo about Barcelona’s interest, saying
“They spoke to my agents in November as if they wanted to make the transfer very quickly, but then everything was postponed for one reason or another. And then near the end of January, when they asked me to wait to see, it was already almost done with Leipzig. At that time, I had already signed up. Because I wanted to go to a team that had a project now and in the future for me.”
As of now, it seems that if a move in near future to La Liga is materialized, Barcelona will be a strongly linked destination. Real Madrid already have attacking midfielders of the ranks of Martin Odegaard and Isco as options and don’t seem likely to further make a contender in the position.
Barcelona would surely like to make his addition to bolster them instead of Coutinho who has been a considerable misfire until now, depending on the financial and presidential situation.
