After his recovery from COVID-19, Zinedine Zidane faced the press who had a lot of questions surrounding the form and squad of Real. Real Madrid have been underperforming and unimpressive this season; which has led to them finding themselves in a tough situation domestically. As we understand from Marca, Zidane still believes his squad won’t give up on the title just yet, that they won ‘last season’.
The Frenchman is still hell-bent on turning the situation around, especially since his job is on the line. He spoke to the media,
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, we deserve to finish the season with this squad. There is talk about a lot of things, about changing the coach and so on.
I don’t know, I’m a lucky man. If people want me to quit, I’m not going to quit. And neither are the players. There is a lot of talk about an uncomfortable situation. We’re not at our best, it’s true, but we’re determined to change the situation.”
said an optimistic Zidane.
Zidane wants Real Madrid to compete till the end of the title race.
Zidane also went pretty aggressive when being questioned about the mentality of the team,
“We deserve to keep fighting for the title. It was us who won La Liga last year, it was Real Madrid. That was last year, it’s not like it was 10 years ago. So let us fight. The questions make me laugh. You are doing your job, but one day you say I’ll be kicked out of the club and the next day I’m inside the club.”
On being enquired about Hazard and his recurring injury, he said,
I think it’s a bit of bad luck. It’s not been easy on the player. We have to maintain a positive attitude. He’s a great player, we need him back 100 per cent. Do you think he’s happy with what’s going on? Well, no. He’s doing what he can to be in good shape, but you know in the life of a player you can be injured.”
The Los Blancos face Huesca next in La Liga and need a reassuring win to gain confidence for a good run following it.
