Barcelona legend was dropped in last night’s clash against Real Betis. Ronald Koeman has dropped the Argentine multiple times this season. The 33-year-old was seen starting on the bench yet again last night. The Dutchman took on Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis in the La Liga. A huge but tough win for Ronald Koeman came the way of Barcelona as his side won 3-2. This win closed the gap to 7 points between the Blaugrana and Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona’s talisman Lionel Messi was seen starting on the bench last night. The 6 time Balon D’or winner is a sure starter for the Catalans. However, this season it has been different as the Argentine has started multiple games from the bench, presumably to provide the player with rest after multiple back to back games.

The La Liga giants saw themselves down 1-0 all game up until their captain was introduced in the second half. The introduction of the magician saw an instant impact as he scored the equalizer right after coming on. This was the fastest goal scored by any player after being introduced in La Liga history. This event proved how the magician is key to Barcelona. Up until his introduction, the team was struggling and they failed to display a threat to Manuel Pellegrini’s men. This instant equalizer surely proved the importance of Messi and how crucial he is for Barcelona.

The Catalans went 2-1 up and conceded another goal in the 75th minute. The former Manchester City manager looked to have knicked a draw against the sextuple winners but young Francisco Trincao had other plans. The Portugese youngster scored a brilliant goal with his left foot to hand Barcelona the win. The Catalans left it late yet again as they knicked this crucial win over Real Betis in the 87th minute. Koeman and his team currently sit at second, behind Atletico Madrid, who have 2 games in hand.
